Eddington - Representative Peter Lyford (R-Eddington) has announced that he will be running for the Maine State Senate, seeking to represent the people of Senate District 10. Rep. Lyford has served the people of Clifton, Holden, Veazie, Eddington, and part of Brewer in the Maine House of Representatives since 2014.
“Right now, Mainers need people to speak up for a path forward for our state that supports our families, our small businesses, our outdoor traditions, and a bright future for our children and grandchildren,” said Rep. Lyford. “In the Senate, it will be my priority to stand up for the people of Hancock and Penobscot County and make sure their voice is heard in Augusta.”
A longtime small business owner, Rep. Lyford serves as the President and CEO of a hydroseeding and commercial landscaping business with locations in Hermon and Gorham. He also has an extensive history of community involvement. He serves on the Eddington Selectboard; is Chairman of the Land Management Committee, BSA; is a member of the Supervisory Committee at the Brewer Federal Credit Union; and a member of the Governor’s Wind Commission. He is also a member of the Katahdin Corporation.
During his time in the Maine House of Representatives, Rep. Lyford has served on the Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife where he has been a strong advocate for Maine’s outdoor traditions. He has also served on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
Rep. Lyford is a graduate of Husson University. He and his wife, Marcia, reside in Eddington.
“Rep. Lyford and I worked together in the Maine House, and I am very glad he’s running for Senate. He’s a strong voice for rural Maine and he’s respected for his common sense and strong but low-key style of leadership. Penobscot and Hancock Counties will be fortunate to have him as a State Senator, and we’ll be fortunate to have him as a member of the Republican team in the Senate,” said Senate Majority Leader Jeff Timberlake (R-Androscoggin).
The newly established Senate District 10 consists of the towns of Bucksport, Dedham and Otis in Hancock County and the municipalities of Bradley, Brewer, Carmel, Clifton, Eddington, Hampden, Holden, Newburgh, and Orrington in Penobscot County.
