Hiram - Nate Wadsworth, a sixth generation Hiram resident and State Representative, is announcing he is running for the Maine State Senate. He will be running for the new Maine Senate District 22 seat which was formed as the result of redistricting. Wadsworth is currently serving in his fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives.
“For as many generations as the Wadsworths have been in Maine, they have been committed to serving our friends and neighbors both through our private business ventures and our public service efforts. In continuing that tradition in the Maine State Senate, my focus will be on strengthening our state so Mainers are able to thrive here and cherish the opportunity to live here,” said Wadsworth.
Senator David Woodsome also expressed his strong support for Rep. Wadsworth's Senate candidacy. “I have worked closely with Nate for two terms on the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee in Augusta. His calm and thoughtful approach makes him just the kind of leader we need in state government. His love of the state and willingness to work hard on behalf of his community will benefit all Mainers when he is serving in the State Senate.”
Rep. Wadsworth works in the family business, Wadsworth Woodlands, Inc., which has provided consulting forestry services to Southern Maine forestland owners for almost three decades. A 1998 graduate of Sacopee Valley High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Agricultural Business. Nate and his wife April have two children, Lillian and William.
Rep. Wadsworth's Senate candidacy has been enthusiastically received by other elected officials in the district. He has already been endorsed by fellow Representatives Lester Ordway (R-Standish), Ted Kryzak (R-Acton), Rich Cebra (R-Naples) and Senator Rick Bennett (R-Oxford), as well as by the Hon. Jon Kinney who previously represented York County towns in the Maine House.
The newly established State Senate District 22 consists of the Cumberland County towns of Naples, Sebago, Standish and Baldwin; the Oxford County towns of Hiram and Porter; and the York County towns of Cornish, Limerick, Limington, Newfield, Parsonsfield, and Shapleigh.
