Rep. Peter Lyford Announces Candidacy for Senate District 10

Eddington - Representative Peter Lyford (R-Eddington) has announced that he will be running for the Maine State Senate, seeking to represent the people of Senate District 10. Rep. Lyford has served the people of Clifton, Holden, Veazie, Eddington, and part of Brewer in the Maine House of Representatives since 2014.

“Right now, Mainers need people to speak up for a path forward for our state that supports our families, our small businesses, our outdoor traditions, and a bright future for our children and grandchildren,” said Rep. Lyford. “In the Senate, it will be my priority to stand up for the people of Hancock and Penobscot County and make sure their voice is heard in Augusta.”

A longtime small business owner, Rep. Lyford serves as the President and CEO of a hydroseeding and commercial landscaping business with locations in Hermon and Gorham. He also has an extensive history of community involvement. He serves on the Eddington Selectboard; is Chairman of the Land Management Committee, BSA; is a member of the Supervisory Committee at the Brewer Federal Credit Union; and a member of the Governor’s Wind Commission. He is also a member of the Katahdin Corporation.

During his time in the Maine House of Representatives, Rep. Lyford has served on the Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife where he has been a strong advocate for Maine’s outdoor traditions. He has also served on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

Rep. Lyford is a graduate of Husson University. He and his wife, Marcia, reside in Eddington.

The newly established Senate District 10 consists of the towns of Bucksport, Dedham and Otis in Hancock County and the municipalities of Bradley, Brewer, Carmel, Clifton, Eddington, Hampden, Holden, Newburgh, and Orrington in Penobscot County.

Rep. MaryAnne Kinney Announces Candidacy for Senate District 11

Knox - Representative MaryAnne Kinney (R-Knox) will be seeking the Senate District 11 seat in 2022.

A farmer, Rep. Kinney has served her community in the Maine House of Representatives since 2014. Even before her election she was visiting Augusta to speak up on issues important to the maple producing industry and has long been involved with the Maine Farm Bureau.

“Advocating for my community and for the issues that matter to hardworking Mainers across the state is a responsibility I take very seriously. In running for Senate, my priority is to continue the work I’ve been doing in the House, to stand up for my neighbors in Waldo County and to get Maine on the right path for a prosperous future,” said Rep. Kinney. “Hardworking Maine families deserve to have advocates in the State House who understand what it means to make a living in this state.”

Before she became the owner and operator of Kinney’s Sugarhouse, Rep. Kinney held a wide variety of other jobs. She has worked as a pharmacy technician, a truck driver, and a credit analyst.

Rep. Kinney is involved with numerous organizations. She is a member of the Maine Farm Bureau, MOFGA (Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association), the NRA and the Maple Producers Association.

During her time in the Maine House Rep. Kinney has served on the Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry Committee, the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee, and the State and Local Government Committee.

Her common sense, work ethic, and dedication to serving her community make her an excellent public servant. Senate District 11 is made up of all municipalities in Waldo County. The district’s makeup was not altered during the recent reapportionment process.

Representative Matthew Harrington Announces Candidacy for State Senate

Sanford - Representative Matthew Harrington (R-Sanford) will be seeking the District 33 Senate Seat in 2022. The newly formed York County district includes the municipalities of Alfred, Lebanon, Sanford, and Waterboro.

Rep. Harrington is a police officer in Kennebunk and has served the people of Sanford in the Maine House of Representatives since 2015.

“Public service is about stepping up to do what your community needs. Right now, that means speaking up for hardworking Mainers who are being left behind by policies put forward by the current majorities in Augusta. I’m running for Senate so that I can make sure the people of Alfred, Lebanon, Sanford, and Waterboro have a strong voice advocating for them,” said Rep. Harrington.

In addition to his service as a police officer, Rep. Harrington has served as a firefighter and an advanced EMT. During his time in the legislature he has been an advocate for strengthening public safety in Maine and has sponsored numerous pieces of legislation to help Maine’s first responders. Rep. Harrington’s other priorities have included reducing the tax burden on working Maine families, advocating for less government intrusion in Mainers’ lives, and making it easier for small businesses and employers to operate in the state.

A fourth-generation Mainer, Rep. Harrington is a graduate of Southern Maine Community College and the University of Southern Maine. He and his wife, Lauren, reside in Sanford where he is active in the community. Rep. Harrington is a Freemason, a member of the Sanford Elks, a Shriner with the Kora Temple, and has been a member of his church’s board of trustees.

Representative Nate Wadsworth Announces Candidacy For Newly Established Senate District 22 Seat

Hiram - Nate Wadsworth, a sixth generation Hiram resident and State Representative, is announcing he is running for the Maine State Senate. He will be running for the new Maine Senate District 22 seat which was formed as the result of redistricting. Wadsworth is currently serving in his fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives.

“For as many generations as the Wadsworths have been in Maine, they have been committed to serving our friends and neighbors both through our private business ventures and our public service efforts. In continuing that tradition in the Maine State Senate, my focus will be on strengthening our state so Mainers are able to thrive here and cherish the opportunity to live here,” said Wadsworth.

Senator David Woodsome also expressed his strong support for Rep. Wadsworth's Senate candidacy. “I have worked closely with Nate for two terms on the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee in Augusta. His calm and thoughtful approach makes him just the kind of leader we need in state government. Rep. Wadsworth works in the family business, Wadsworth Woodlands, Inc., which has provided consulting forestry services to Southern Maine forestland owners for almost three decades. A 1998 graduate of Sacopee Valley High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Agricultural Business. Nate and his wife April have two children, Lillian and William.

Rep. Wadsworth's Senate candidacy has been enthusiastically received by other elected officials in the district. He has already been endorsed by fellow Representatives Lester Ordway (R-Standish), Ted Kryzak (R-Acton), Rich Cebra (R-Naples) and Senator Rick Bennett (R-Oxford), as well as by the Hon. Jon Kinney who previously represented York County towns in the Maine House.

The newly established State Senate District 22 consists of the Cumberland County towns of Naples, Sebago, Standish and Baldwin; the Oxford County towns of Hiram and Porter; and the York County towns of Cornish, Limerick, Limington, Newfield, Parsonsfield, and Shapleigh.
